Building Conservation and Heritage CPDs

Cliveden Conservation is an IHBC-recognised CPD provider and delivers building conservation and heritage skills training days to architects, specifiers, project managers, surveyors, and tradespeople across England. We offer CPD training days covering heritage lime mortar, heritage plaster and stone conservation.

Heritage Lime Mortar Training Day (Trade)

Heritage Lime Mortar Training Day (Trade)

A one-day workshop combining classroom theory with supervised practical sessions at Reading Abbey Ruins. The course covers the lime cycle, the selection and specification of lime materials, mixing techniques and practical application. Participants will gain hands-on experience carrying out pointing and consolidation work on the Abbey walls under expert guidance. Designed for tradespeople who work with lime-based materials as part of their day-to-day role, as well as those looking to develop their skills and understanding of traditional building materials and conservation techniques.

Heritage Lime Mortar Training Day (Specifiers)

Training day combining classroom theory with supervised practical sessions at Reading Abbey Ruins, a Grade I listed Scheduled Ancient Monument. The programme covers the lime cycle, material specification, mixing and application, with hands-on pointing and consolidation work on the Abbey walls, plus an introduction to Nano Electro Application Technique (NEAT) from Sheffield Hallam University researchers. This course is for those who specify lime-based materials and treatments in their daily practice or wish to learn more.
Plaster Workshop (Mouldings)

Plaster Workshop (Mouldings)

A two-day advanced workshop exploring the techniques of running plaster mouldings both on the bench and in situ, including casting, mitring and fixing. Suitable for plasterers and conservators wishing to develop their decorative plasterwork skills.

Plaster Workshop (all levels)

A one-day practical workshop covering the fundamentals of conservation plastering, including material selection, tool identification, applying and fixing laths, and understanding the correct key and scratch coat.
Stone Training Day

Stone Training Day

A one-day workshop combining classroom learning with hands-on practical experience, covering basic geology, common stone defects, survey and diagnosis, and the opportunity to cut and shape stone using traditional tools.
